Music producer Nota Baloyi has handed himself over to the Randburg police station. This follows rape accusations made against him by a former Rhythm City actress.
HOPING FOR THE BEST
In a tweet early this morning, Nota revealed that he was handing himself over to police and that he hoped to clear his name. "Handing myself in at Randburg Police station and hoping for the best. Please keep me in your prayers. This is officially the worst day of my life so far," he revealed in the tweet. He later shared a picture of certificate of detainee.
Ironically earlier this week, Nota told ZiMoja that he was innocent and that he didn't do it. "I didn't do this; it was consensual, and I hope the law takes its course. I wouldn't rape anyone, but hopefully that will be proven in court soon. I know the woman in question, but I'm certain that I didn't force myself on her. I didn't do anything wrong," he said.
ALLEGED VICTIM RELIEVED
The actress, who cannot be named as she is an allegation victim of sexual crime, said she was relieved now that the case is moving and she hoped that the process would be fair and not biased. She told ZiMoja: "I'm relieved that there's finally movement towards justice, but still anxious about whether the legal process will follow the law and not be influenced by public sentiment." SAPS Gauteng spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the arrest. "The suspect will appear in court on Monday at the Randburg Magistrates Court on charges of rape," said Masondo.
