American R&B singer Chris Brown's best friend, Naledi Aphiwe, who was hurled with bottles and other missiles on stage, has offered a public apology after the incident. Naledi took to the stage to perform at Mthandeni's Summer Experience event held on Saturday, January 4, while another artist, Gatsheni, was still performing.
SURVIVING A BRUTAL ATTACK
While Gatsheni and his bandmates were still shocked by Naledi singing her opener, her fans pelted her with bottles and cans. Gatsheni and his band group ran for cover at the time, while Naledi continued to sing until a man backstage came to her rescue and took her to safety. Naledi said in a statement she released last night: "I understand the importance of the opportunity, and I truly appreciate the support that has been extended to me. I also want to offer a heartfelt apology to Gatsheni and his team. It was never my intention to cause any disruption or disrespect, especially to such a respected and established artist in the Maskandi community," she said in a statement.
TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
She went on to acknowledge that her actions were inconsiderate. "I deeply regret the way I conducted myself on stage. I respect the values of this community, and I will take this time to reflect on my actions and ensure that I grow as an artist and individual moving forward," she added. After the incident, Naledi got flack from the Maskandi community for being inconsiderate during Saturday's gig. She added, "I understand that the path to success is not just about talent, but also about maturity, respect, and collaboration. I take full responsibility for my actions, and I am committed to working on myself during this period. I recognise that this is a time for growth, and I will be focusing on honing my craft and building a stronger, more professional approach to my music and career." Naledi also addressed her fans and promised that she would in the future become a better person as an artist.
