He has six children with six different women, a family in the village and the pressure of the music business to deal with. Gqom artist Bhizer, real name Sibonelo Dimba says that the hardships of the music industry have forced him to get a paying 9-5 job to maintain his life and keep his dignity as a father.
WORK WORK WORK!
The Gobisiqolo hitmaker works at a car rental business and makes music on the weekends. "Music is my passion, I have not given up on it, and I would never. But I've parked it for weekends and holidays,' he said. "I go to work from 8 am until 17:00 and I usually come home very tired. Then I make music on weekends. It's a sacrifice I had to make for myself and my family. I can't have dependents while I am depending on someone.'
IN THE MEANTIME
Last year, the producer and DJ threatened to quit the music business completely, but due to his passion - the plan to quit failed. Bhizer has made big hits such as Gobisiqolo featuring Busiswa, Golokoqo with DJ C-live, and many others. "I was going to quit music because of past experiences of not getting paid fairly by management teams, not getting royalties, and having people gatekeep,' he said. "But the music kept calling, and I can't throw away what God has given me,' he said. However, he needed to get a consistent income, hence securing a nine-to-five job. "I have no choice but to get something that will sustain me. I work with a basic salary and get commission on top of that, so I have to push myself to work hard.' But he believes this is temporary. "Of course, I will have other business ventures that will grow. This is not forever, and it helps me to pay for my music and studio time," he added.
