Mosimane quits his new job

Pitso Mosimane has quit his job as Esteghal FC headcoach

Former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns coach Dr. Pitso Mosimane has terminated his contract with Iranian club Esteghlal in the Persian Gulf Pro League. Mosimane joined the Iranian team in October last year.

MONEY MATTERS

Earlier this week, Pitso Mosimane's legal team confirmed on Marawa Sports Worldwide show on 702 that he was leaving the club because of non-payment. In a letter to the club a few weeks ago, Mosimane, known as Jingles, gave the club a 10-day deadline to pay him or he would report the matter to FIFA. "You are herein granted a 10-day deadline to disburse the full value of the employment contracts together with the appropriate interests for late payment or we shall immediately and without further notice seek redress before the FIFA judicial bodies," part of the letter read. Since leaving Sundowns after winning the CAF League with the Egyptian giants, Al Ahly, Mosimane has coached teams in the United Arab Emirates like Al Ahli in Jeddah, Wahda, Abha and Esteghlal, which he quit yesterday.

GROUP EFFORTS

In all his teams, since his days at Sundowns, Mosimane has worked with his backroom staff, including Maheer Davids (assistant coach), Kabelo Rangoaga (physical conditioner), Kyle Solomons and Musi Matlaba (performance analysts). His backroom staff also suffered the same fate of not getting paid their salaries. He gave the team club a 24-hour notice on Monday to pay any unpaid salaries or face contract termination. Esteghlal received the first notice from Mosimane's representatives on 1 January and according to FIFA procedures, it was supposed to pay the coach by Tuesday,28 January. According to Tehran media, Mosimane attended his team's training yesterday and conducted the session. It was reported that Ali Nazari Juybari, managing director of Esteghlal, was also present at the training and had a brief meeting with Mosimane.

NO MONEY, NO WORK

It's reported that minutes after the training session ended, Esteghlal's management received Mosimane's unilateral termination letter after the coach did not receive payment by the end of the notice period. It is expected that Mosimane's management team, MT Sports, will announce his next destination, together with his technical team, soon.
