The community of Dikeni in the Eastern Cape is reeling in shock after a grade 12 learner was found murdered and her killing is linked to her ex-boyfriend, who is a teacher.
DISAPPEARANCE
Kungawo Nyhweba (19) disappeared last Friday after the wife of her teacher and ex-boyfriend Xolani Gotyi, whom she alleged dated found out about their affair after she discovered Nyhweba's clothes at Gotyi's place, which infuriated her.
According to reports, Gotyi's wife went to pay Nyhweba's a visit with a friend and what followed was a gruesome discovery.
The family decided to go and open a missing person's case on Monday and after few days of investigations, the police discovered that the learner was kidnapped and later stabbed to death and burnt to death. Police revealed on yesterday that the wife's friend was also found murdered on Thursday night.
BURNT TO DEATH
Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, said Nyhweba went missing on Friday and was reported to the police on Monday.
"Upon investigation, police received information that she was allegedly kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend's wife and her friend. Preliminary investigation by police led to the recovery of her body in an open space at the Ebakhwetheni area in Joza township in Makhanda," she said. According to the information, four suspects were involved in kidnapping and murdering Nyhweba and two of those suspects were arrested Wednesday night from their homes at Golf Course in Alice and the wife's friend was also discovered dead. Police are still following leads to arrest other suspects.
The duo that was arrested is expected to appear at Alice Magistrate's Court soon,
