A grade 10 learner who went missing in May was found murdered and mutilated. Ntobeko Nkosi (15) from Garankuwa, outside Pretoria in Gauteng, went missing on 4 May and was found killed and her body dumped in an open field last weekend.
MISSING
Her father, Collen Mashilwane, told ZiMoja that Ntobeko went missing after she left their home to go to school. "She never made it to school; instead, she bunked school and went to visit her friends. Her friends told us that they went to the park, where they met up with other boys from the same school. They claimed that they separated in the afternoon, when everyone was going home. My Ntobeko never made it back home and her cellphone was off. We tried looking for her to no success," Mashilwane said. He added that the community tried to assist them in looking for her but they were not able to trace her.
"It was not until Sunday that we received a call informing us that she had been found, but unfortunately, she was no more. When we went there, we found her body dumped in an open field," he said.
MUTILATED
Mashilwane said that, as a family, they are still trying to come to terms with the loss of their daughter. "I will never forget the way my daughter was killed. No one wants to explain to us what really happened to her. Her eyeballs were also missing. We really don't know why my daughter was killed. We need answers for closure," he said. Gauteng SAPS Spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the incident. "Akasia police are investigating an inquest docket after the girl was found in extension 4. She was reported missing in May 2024. At this stage, allegations that she was mutilated cannot be confirmed," she said.
