Another year, another chance for South African stars to shine and be recognised for their hard work. The station officially announced the launch of the Metro FM Music Awards 2025 (MMAs) taking place on 3 May 2025 at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

PARTNERSHIPS

Leading up to the awards, the nominees' announcement will take place on Thursday, 27 February 2025, where all the wishful stars in their respective categories will be revealed. Partnering with the awards are the Mpumalanga provincial government and the Motsepe Foundation, together with the AFI adding the element of fashion.

NEW DATE

The announcement of the new date took place at the Angels View Hotel in Graskop, where guests were treated to mountainous views and serene scenes. The launch brought together partners and key stakeholders to celebrate the start of Metro FM's awards season.

A SHOWCASE

According to SABC's group executive Nada Wotshela, the awards have a significant impact on the South African music industry and the country at large. "Last year's event was a huge success and we are excited to build on that momentum this year. The awards provide a platform for artists to showcase their talent and for music lovers to celebrate the best in South African music," she said.

Last year, Amapiano giants Kabza De Small and Mthunzi were the biggest winners with four awards in the Best Amapiano, Song of the Year, Best Produced Album, and Best Collaboration categories. This year's submission process for artists and record labels is still open until Sunday, 2 February 2025..
