The police in Kuruman, Northern Cape, are hunting for suspects who stole the bodies of two men and a baby girl on Monday at a private mortuary. The suspects allegedly assaulted the security guard and tied him up before stealing the corpses.
A ROBBERY
Northern Cape police spokesperson Colonel Sergio Kock said a case of business robbery has been opened in Kuruman. "It is alleged that on March 17 at about 1:30 am, two men entered the guard room at a private funeral home and assaulted, tied up, and blindfolded the security guard. The suspects allegedly fled with three corpses," he said. Kock said that this was not common in the province. "Our team is working around the clock to arrest the perpetrators." The owners of the Kuruman Funeral Parlour have since enlisted private investigators.
FIRA TO HELP
Funeral Industry Reform Association chairperson Johan Rousseau said they will help the families with drafting documents that will clarify what could've gone wrong. "At this point we can confirm that the police have created a task team in terms of investigation, and we have given them guidelines of where they could look." He added:"The funeral parlour went to the extent of getting private entities involved to assist them in getting closure for the families.
