Gauteng MEC for Finance Lebogang Maile mourns the death of his son

Lebogang Maile has lost a son

The newly appointed Gauteng MEC for Finance and Economic Development, Lebogang Maile, is mourning the passing of his son, Pholosho Maile. Maile took to social media this morning to announce Pholosho's passing.

In the post, Maile wrote: "It with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of my son, Pholosho Tau Mokubedi Maile, who passed away on Saturday, 17 August 2024. Pholosho's untimely death has visited profound pain on our entire family and relatives. The details of the memorial service and funeral will be shared in due course.". The MEC did not provide further details on the cause of his son's death. 

 

TRIBUTES POURING IN

 

Maile's brother Mike wrote on his page: "It will never make sense, and I am not going to try and find reason. Rest in peace, son." Many of Maile's followers on social media expressed condolences after he made the announcement of his sin's passing. Government communicator Makhosini Mgitywa sent his condolences as well. He said: "Terrible news. Condolences to you and the family. Akwehlanga lungehliyo. May his soul rest in eternal peace." Minister of Human Settlements Nkhensani Mamoloko Kubayi has also expressed her condolences to Maile. "Sincere condolences to you and the entire family chairman on the loss of your son. May the almighty God give you strength during this difficult period," Kubayi said. ANC Chief Whip in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Mzi Khumalo, also added his word of condolences. He wrote: "Condolences to you, my brother, and the entire Maile family. Modimo le badimo ba nne le lona (My God and the ancestors be with your family)." Some of Maile's former colleagues at the ANC Youth League, during his years when he was the Chairperson between 2010 and 2013, also sent their condolences.Maile was appointed Gauteng MEC for Finance and Economic Development after the elections. Prior to that, he was the province's MEC for Human Settlement.
