Afro-pop group Mafikizolo, made up of Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Mafu, has been together for over 28 years and they are approaching three decades with no threats or hints to part ways. They lost their third member Tebza, real name Tebogo Madingoane, after he was shot and killed in 2004. Lead singer Nhlanhla Nciza has since pulled slightly back from the group to pursue her solo career in music.

PULLING AWAY

Nhlanhla has been taking solo bookings outside of Mafikizolo and released her new single titled Ngithanda Wena feat Dj Tira and Amatycooler. Speculations have been making rounds that the group might be splitting. "She is definitely pushing harder on her solo career and taking her own bookings outside of the duo,' a close friend revealed. "It's about time. People still love Mafikizolo but every group member needs to pursue a career outside of the group.' The friend revealed that Nhlanhla and Theo Kgosinkwe had a fallout earlier in the year.

RELAUNCH

Nhlanhla has also relaunched her traditional wedding gown range under her clothing label NN Vintage to cement her career and an individual brand outside of the group. "Theo and I have always had our own individual managers because we are two unique brands who make up Mafikizolo as a duo,' she told ZiMoja. "Mafikizolo as a group still continues to work together and we have our manager as a group. Both myself and Theo will from time to time make announcements when we work on projects within and outside the group.' Nhlanhla adds that she is currently promoting her single Ngithanda Wena which is dedicated to celebrating the launch of my Shweshwe bridal range.
