Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba surprised veteran actress Lydia Mokgokoloshi, known as Koko Mantsha Skeem Saam, for her 85th birthday. The Premier has been commended for celebrating the icon while she is still alive. When she paid a visit to renowned South African actress Mokgokoloshi, accompanied by her delegation in Botlokwa outside Polokwane, Ramathula came bearing gifts for the elderly actress when she presented her with a cake.

During the visit, Ramathuba expressed admiration for Mokgokoloshi's life and achievements; she also stressed the importance of naturing and taking care of the elderly. "We are proud of you for celebrating your 85th birthday and thanking God for your life. The Premier also acknowledged Mokgokoloshi's wisdom and life experience, emphasising that the government will seek her counsel.

Mokgokoloshi, who was touched by the Premier's gesture, expressed her joy and said that growing old up is a blessing, but being honoured while still alive is a bigger blessing. "Thank you so much for the visit, my child. I will never forget this day. I hope such does not end with me," she said. Mogokoloshi, who is a qualified teacher, is best known for acting as an evil mother-in-law, Mma Nkwesheng, on the popular 90s Sepedi drama Bophelo ke semphekgo. She has also acted in a number of TV dramas like Ngwanaka Okae and Muvhango.
