Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly killed a 47-year-old police sergeant attached to the Rooiberg police station in the Waterberg District.
WHERE IS THE BOYFRIEND
SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said reports suggest that the sergeant returned home on Saturday, 25 January, with her boyfriend.
"The next morning, her lifeless body was discovered by her six-year-old grandson. At that time, both the boyfriend and the sergeant's vehicle were missing,"said Ledwaba.
Ledwaba said the grandson alerted the neighbours and they reported the matter to the police, who promptly summoned emergency medical personnel, who confirmed the sergeant's death at the scene.
"Later, her private vehicle was discovered abandoned about 50 kilometres away from her home, along Thabazimbi Road near Koedoeskop. The motive behind this senseless act of violence remains unclear, although domestic violence cannot be ruled out at this stage,"said Ledwaba.
CONDOLENCES
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered the police to mobilise all available resources to locate and apprehend the suspect.
She has also conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the late sergeant during these trying times.
"The police are appealing to 43-year-old Malebye Ben Molefe to come forward to the nearest police station, as he may possess critical information that could assist in resolving this case," said Hadebe.
