Just weeks before one of his biggest shows in SA, Lebo M has lost his mother, Nomvula Grissel Morake, at the age of 96. Gogo Morake's passing happens just when Lebo was gearing up for his live show along with the international star Hans Zimmer on April 18 in Cape Town.

The news of his mother's death was confirmed by his PR, Simpiwe Majola, in a statement. According to the statement, Gogo Morake passed away peacefully in her sleep. "With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Magogo Nomvula Grissel Morake, the beloved mother of internationally renowned composer, performer, and Grammy Award-winning producer, Lebo M. Morake, who passed away peacefully this morning after a beautiful and restful night. A true matriarch, she was a pillar of love, wisdom, and strength within her family and community. Her legacy of kindness and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her,' reads the statement. The family has asked for their privacy during these trying times.

The family also promised to share the funeral details closer to the time. "Lebo M and his family deeply appreciate the outpouring of love and support during this time and kindly request privacy as they mourn their beloved mother and grandmother. Details regarding memorial arrangements will be shared in due course,' the statement read. His mother is also featured in his reality show, Lebo M-Coming Home. According to sources close to the situation, Lebo M is not going to postpone his almost sold-out show. "The venue has been booked, artists have been paid, and Lebo has been busy with rehearsals; the show must go on,' said the source.
