"It's truly a miracle, I owe it all to God"

Rapper Da Les is recovering well at home

Hip-hop musician and award-winner Da L. E. S, who was attacked by a severe stroke on his birthday on 26 July is making serious recovery. For the first time since he was hospitalised almost four months ago, the rapper has expressed gratitude for being alive.

GRATEFUL TO GOD FOR BEING ALIVE

The famed rapper, whose real name is Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr said it is truly a miracle that he survived a stroke and thanked God for his strength. He said: "I owe it all to God." Da L.E.S, also said he was incredibly thankful for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers from his fans, friends, and everyone who has reached out. The former Jozi member will continue to update everyone on his healing process and appreciates all the continued encouragement.

HEALING TAKES TIME

The statement also said: "Healing takes time, but he's staying positive and focused on a full recovery." When Da L.E.S was attacked by stroke in July and even missed his 39th birthday party, his management apologised on his Instagram page when they posted that "due to unfortunate circumstances he was not able to attend." Two days later, his family released a statement to confirm his hospitalisation. The statement read: "The family of renowned South African musician Da Les is deeply saddened to inform the public that he suffered a stroke at home on Friday, 26 July 2024, and has been hospitalised.' The rapper was discharged from the hospital to make a full recovery at home, although he had a speech impairment. A source at the time told ZiMoja: "He was treated with the highest form of care at Charlotte Maxeke and South Rand hospitals, where he started his rehabilitation. The family thought it was best to be home.' The Lifestyle hitmaker had been on a lengthy musical hiatus, and he made a comeback by dropping his ninth solo album, 313, which he released in December last year. The album earned him a nomination for Best Hip Hop at this year's Metro FM Awards against fellow rappers Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Khuli Chana and A-Reece, the eventual winner of the gong.
