"I apologised for speaking the truth."

Toll Ass Mo is furious that Gogo Skhotheni rejected his apology

Comedian and reality TV star Mongezi "Tol Ass Mo" Mahlangu is furious after celebrity sangoma Gogo Skhotheni rejected his apology over remarks he made about her late son,Monde Junior Shange.

APOLOGY NOT ACCEPTED

During a recent Podcast and Chill with MacG episode, Mahlangu mentioned traditional healers using muti during pregnancy. Skhotheni and her husband Monde Shange took it personally that Mahlangu meant that her spiritual calling and practices may have contributed to their son's passing in September 2024. Monde Junior died in the ICU. After Mahlangu's remarks, Skhotheni took to TikTok and rejected the apology saying he knew what he was saying. "I am sick and tired of people speaking badly about my late son and then apologise. You knew exactly what you said and what you meant. If you are sorry, you should've apologised right after the interview or the following day. Niyijwayele lento yenu (you always do this),' she said.

CROSSING BOUNDARIES

Skhotheni's husband Monde was unforgiving either, telling Mahlangu off. In his Instagram account, he wrote: "There are lines that should never be crossed and one of them is speaking on the loss of someone's child with disrespect and ignorance." He then added: "@tolassmothegamer, the comment you made about my wife and my son's passing is beyond hurtful - it's reckless and inhumane. My wife, as a mother, has been carrying unimaginable pain every single day since Monde Junior left us. To suggest that her work as a traditional healer had anything to do with his passing is not only false but deeply offensive." Some followers of the couple supported them and criticised Mahlangu for being insensitive.

TELLING THE TRUTH

In what is regarded as a half-baked apology, Mahlangu stated: "I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for my words. In the heat of the moment, I spoke without truly understanding the depth of pain that comes with losing a child. I realise now how insensitive my words may have been and I deeply regret any hurt I may have caused. " Only a day after issuing the apology, a furious Mahlangu, took to social media after he learnt that Skhotheni did not accept his apology and said though he apologised, he was telling the truth. "I apologised for speaking the truth. I want to warn all the women out there that if you are pregnant and uzodlala nge mithi (use muti recklessly), it will affect your child. Whether you like it or not, go and play with muthi and come back and tell me," he said. He added that he also reached out to Skhotheni on WhatsApp apologising but she responded by swearing at him. "I'm okay where I am. I am not a DJ. I'm not your mate and respected you enough, but you take me for a fool. If you want to go personal, I can be personal too," said Mahlangu angrily.
