The police in Germiston fatally shot six suspected cash-in-transit robbers this morning.

SAPS spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the incident and said police also seized four pistols and one AK47 rifle on the scene as well as a cash trolley. He said the vehicle that the suspects were using had been stolen in Brooklyn. Masondo said the scene was still active.
"Information was received regarding a cross pavement robbery that was going to take place in the Germiston CBD area. Members of an integrated multi-disciplinary team were deployed to the area,"said Masondo.
SUSPECTS SCOUTED
He said members were alerted of an armed robbery at the Top Bets where G4S was robbed and they were warned to be on the look out for an IX35
"Members started looking for the suspect?s vehicle and spotted it driving recklessly. Members attempted to stop the suspects and they immediately started shooting at the members. Members returned fire and suspects vehicle lost control thus crashing into a pole,"explained Masondo.
He said six suspects were fatally wounded and another suspect is in a serious condition.
