The Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, has confirmed that the Hawks and State Security are investigating a possible breach of 2024 matric results. This comes after a company advertised over the weekend that they can give learners access to their results through email for a fee.

MATRIC RESULTS FOR R100

The company called Edumarks, which has been operating for over two years, said in an advertisement on their website that they had access to matric results, including subjects and percentages. HAWKS TO INVESTIGATE 

Briefing the media this morning at the congratulatory breakfast to honour the country's 2024 matric top academic achievers at the MTN Innovation Centre in Randburg, Johannesburg, Minister Gwarube said the department has sought the help of the Hawks and State Security to investigate the leakage of matric results. "There is a potential breach in our information. What this means is that there are multiple steps in compiling the matric results, and the breach seems to have happened at the tail end. The results have already been finalised. We are talking about the results themselves," Gwarube said. "We have enlisted the services of the Hawks and state security," she said, adding that the department wants an arrest to be made and is confident of this. Gwarube will announce the outcome of the examinations later this evening, and the results will be released to candidates tomorrow.
