Former Bafana Bafana coach and founding member of Kaizer Chiefs Stanley 'Screamer' Tshabalala has died. Tshabalala's passing was confirmed by the Orlando Pirates today. "Orlando Pirates is saddened by the passing of soccer legend Stan 'Screamer' Tshabalala," the club said in a short statement.

SHOOTING DURING BREAK IN

The team said Bra Stan, as he was affectionately known, succumbed to the injuries he suffered when he was shot on March 20 this year. 'The Tshabalala and Orlando Pirates Family will furnish the details in due course. The public is advised to await the provision of the details for the arrangements going forward," the club said. He was shot during a suspected break-in at his home in Centurion and has been in the hospital since. 

A SOCCER LEGEND 

The 75-year-old former Sundowns coach is the father of the late Kwaito musician Tokollo "Magesh" Tshabalala of TKZee fame and former BGM record executive Dineo Tshabalala. He earned the nickname 'Screamer' because of his constant shouting for the ball. Tshabalala was born in Orlando East, Soweto, in 1949. His coaching career spans more than three decades, with his first job being at Mamelodi Sundowns. He led Bafana Bafana to their first official FIFA match in 1992. Tshabalala also worked for the South African Football Association as a team manager and technical advisor in 1993. At the time of his passing, he was the Orlando Pirates technical director.
