The son of actress Sonia Mbele re-appeared at the Randburg Magistrate's Court on charges of rape today. Donell Mbele (23) was arrested last month and released on R1 000 bail after his ex-girlfriend accused him of rape.

ALLEGED RAPE AND ASSAULT

The ex (17) whom he has since parted ways with said the incident happened between 14 and 15 December 2024 after a date. "I was violated by someone I thought I could trust, who I held close to my heart," she shared in a social media post. "At first, I concentrated on it but later changed my mind." She revealed in posts on social media that she trusted Donell. "I remember another incident where he just got on top of me, pinned me down and forced himself onto me. Donell was previously involved in a similar incident with ex-girlfriend Reokeditswe Makete who claimed she was also raped and assaulted by him but later dropped the charges. 

POSTPONED

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed to ZiMoja that the case was postponed. "The matter has been postponed to 21 March for consultation with the complainant and further investigations.' Donnell was dropped by Showmax reality show Born Into Fame following the arrest.
