Tragedy has struck the Chauke home after Jimmy Chauke brother of popular DJ Charmza, real name Chris Chauke, was shot three times in his father's home while visiting Tzaneen.

INTRUDERS

Speaking to ZiMoja, Charmza's elderly father, Funny Chauke, said the men came into their home during loadshedding at around 8 pm asking to see Chris. "My other son, Jimmy, was visiting. I think he was joking when he said that he was Chris.' That is when the men opened fire and shot him. Everything happened so fast. I ran out and I was shot in the leg. Then they ran off."

SECOND VISIT

DJ Charmza's father says the two men had come to the house prior to the killing. "They first came looking for Chris, but I was alone, when I phoned him, they told me not to and they left. We have people coming in and out of the house a lot because he is a sangoma but they always knock. Those guys did not knock, they just barged in the house and left without leaving a message or their names.'

The pensioner said they rushed Jimmy to the hospital where he was declared dead. DJ Chramza is currently in hiding. His father said they are scared. "I don't want to lose my son after we lost Jimmy,' he said. "I don't know who would want to do this to my family. Jimmy has a wife and children and did not deserve this.' The family has opened a case with the Maake Police in Mohlatlereng village.

DISPUTE

DJ Charmza is popularly known for the songs I Surrender ft Vusi Nova and Imani Ngwenya. Two years ago, he was involved in a legal dispute with Master KG, distributor Africori SA and Open Mic where he claimed to be the originator of the song Jerusalema. His father said he was not well informed about the music business. "I don't know anything about music. I don't understand it,' Funny said. "I heard something of the sort but I was never too involved.'
