A look back at celebrities involved in fatal car accidents in 2024

Shebeshxt, Malome Vektor and Mpho Sebeng were involved in fatal accidents

While celebrities may appear or even be treated as larger than life by their followers, the reality is that they are human and are not immune to experiencing life's obstacles just as ordinary people do. From minor collisions to potentially fatal accidents, we look at celebrities who were involved in car crashes this year.

RAPPER SHEBESHXT LOSES DAUGHTER IN CAR CRASH

Musician Shebeshxt lost his daughter, who died in a car crash when he was driving with three passengers to an event in Limpopo. The rapper, who was reeling from shock and hurt, took to X to say how he felt about the death of his daughter. "My life will never be the same without your presence," the rapper said in a post. This was not the controversial musician's first accident. In January, he was involved in a car accident that left his new wheels written off but he survived with minor injuries.

ACTOR DIED IN ACCIDENT

Actor Mpho Sebeng was known for a couple of roles in some of Mzansi's top productions, such as Ring Of Lies and Savage Beauty among others. He passed away in May this year while driving alone. His family confirmed the news in a statement. "The family of the South African entertainer, Mpho Sebeng, is saddened to confirm, to the public and media, that their son has indeed passed away," the statement read. The family said the star died in the early hours of Saturday morning. "Mpho met his untimely death in the early hours of Sunday, 5 May 2024, due to a tragic car accident in Potchefstroom. Whilst the family appreciates the immense outpouring of love and condolences, the family requests some space to process the news."

MALOME VECTOR DIES IN HORRIFIC CAR CRASH

Popular Lesotho-born rapper, singer, and songwriter Malome Vector died in a horrific car accident in the Free State in July. It's reported that the car that Malome Vector and two crew members were travelling in collided with a heavy motor vehicle on the N1 near Koppies off-ramp. They were driving from the Gauteng side of the N1 towards Bloemfontein. In a short statement at the time, his record label Ambitiouz Entertainment said: "With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of a shining beacon; the Lion of Lesotho's sun has set. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and industry peers during this time of profound loss. Rest in Malome Vector," the statement said.

SOCCER STAR'S FATAL CAR CRASH CLAIMS GIRL'S LIFE

Shaun Mogoila found himself in hot water after he crashed into a family, killing a 9-year-old Gomolemo Mavimbela while her mother, who was driving, and a 13-year-old boy were hospitalised. He reportedly fled the scene, and according to a police report, suspected cocaine, food, and expensive alcohol were allegedly discovered inside the car. The deceased girl's family spokesperson, Patrick Kekana, said they were heartbroken by the accident. "We are hurt by what happened as a family. I am deeply hurt by the crash," he said.
