While many people are celebrating the festive season and holidays, it was a bittersweet moment for the widow of the late AmaZulu player Bonginkosi Ntuli. Ntuli passed away on 5 November last year after a short battle with a rare form of cancer. The soccer star died only two months after walking down the aisle with his wife and Amazulu FC CEO daughter Sinenhlanhla 'Sne' Zungu.
REMEMBERING THE LATE SOCCER PLAYER
This past weekend, a traditional ceremony called umabo was held at Bonginkosi's home in KwaMhlalikato Ridge in KwaZulu Natal, as well as his tombstone unveiling. Ntuli died on the same day, November 5, the families were to have their umabo, a part of a Zulu traditional wedding where the bride presents gifts to the groom's family. According to sources who were in attendance, it was a beautiful day full of friends and family. The source added that the family also did his unveiling. "It was a beautiful day, full of laughter as we reflected on how beautiful of a human Bongi was," added the source.
HIS WIDOW SHARED A TRIBUTE
Sne also took to her Instagram and shared a series of photos and videos. "Nothing could have ever prepared me for this. Not your last "I love you kakhulu," not your last tears, not even your last hand grip. You gave me all I needed for us. To me, you were all I needed from you, and you didn't even know. I knew, though; I knew I was everything to you. For that, I am regretful. But I guess now you know," she wrote. She also said that she is honoured to have been there for her late husband every step of the way. "I am honoured to have been there every single minute. To have seen you take your last breath. To have said the last words to you. My duty as your love and wife, I carry with pride.I am honoured to have walked you home," she added.
