Actress shows gratitude after R50k donation

Brenda Ngxoli has thanked fans for the R50 000 donation

Award-winning actress Brenda Ngxoli has taken to her social media platform to extend her gratitude to her fans and industry colleagues for their outpouring love and support following a recent series of unfortunate events at her homestead in the Eastern Cape this past weekend. The top actress was trending in a video over the weekend where she accused her family, specifically her mother, of physical and emotional abuse.

THE SPIRIT OF UBUNTU

To protect herself, the actress recorded her mother and herself exchanging words. Fans, friends and industry colleagues were quick to jump in, offering their support. Influencer Mandisi Tshingana managed to raise funds to assist Brenda. So far, he's successfully raised R50,000. Brenda said she is overwhelmed by the amount of support people showed her from across the country. She also acknowledged Mandisi for raising such an amount in such a short period. "I know I did not ask for money but God knows I needed it. I was sitting and wondering about my next plan but you guys showed up. God works in mysterious ways, and I just want to thank every one of you for reminding me that I am a worthy human being," she said. She also assured her fans that she is okay, as well as her daughter Sky.

SHE SHARED HER STORY BEFORE

During Mac G's podcast last year, Brenda revealed her life story, claiming allegations of family abuse and toxicity that she had to endure for a long time. Brenda, who was part of the popular Spud trilogy movie, chose to take a video of evidence to show how her mother was abusing her. She posted an altercation between the two of them. In the video, the actress is exposed to her seemingly angry mother, who threatens to beat her up with a plastic stick while the actress is carrying her daughter. According to a source close to Brenda, the actress even extended her mother's house in the Eastern Cape so that she and her daughter could have peace of mind but she alleged that her mother is still harassing her. Brenda also said she might take her mother to court for defamation of character and her mother claimed she was constantly beating her. Defending herself, she said she had never laid her hands on her mother.

SUPPORT LOCALLY

She said the good thing is that she shared that villagers and other family members came through for her. Before posting the video of an altercation with her mother, on Saturday, she posted a video of herself training at a gym. She explained in a caption her plans: "I was saved from the shacks with my child whilst I was facing family issues with a newborn in hand alone. Many came to my rescue. Ndiyabulela."
