After the relationship with late rapper Kiernan "AKA' Forbes and brand Reebok ended on a sour note while he was still alive, his family has reunited with the brand to drop a new range of sneakers with the rapper.
BIG DEAL
A few years ago, the late rapper, AKA, collaborated with Reebok and in August 2020, he put the brand on blast over the sour deal, claiming he was not paid for the creation and marketing of his SneAKA shoe range. "Can you believe they didn't pay me a single cent for this? Not one cent,' AKA said at the time. This is after AKA announced he had signed an alleged "seven-figure' deal with the sports brand and was flown to the States to meet with Reebok bosses. He added he took a 'shitty deal' in exchange for doing something for the culture. "They refused to give me any sort of payment or royalty.' To which Reebok said AKA understood the deal and was happy with the nature of the deal before it was executed.
FRESH START
The brand has since announced, that they will be releasing a new SneAKA . "Five years ago, we partnered with the visionary Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes to create the iconic SneAKA - a fusion of style, creativity, and passion. Today, we're humbled to celebrate this milestone by introducing the SneAKA 2.0, crafted in collaboration with the Forbes family to honour AKA's enduring legacy,' they said in a statement.
