He was once one of Mzansi's most booked and busy choreographers for award ceremonies, music videos, and events. He was also featuredd on songs by top artists at the time, including Zola 7. Multi-talented choreographer Vukani Khoza then vanished from the limelight to focus on his dance studio. He has made a return in the music industry with his latest single titled Ngiyalibeka featuring Quality Biyela, Panda, and Makhadzi.
A COME-BACK
He recently choreographed Makhadzi's one-woman show in Polokwane, Limpopo, her music video Magear and her outstanding Miss South Africa Performance. Vukani says, since his return into the limelight, it's been business as usual. "Last year, I did a lot and even got featured on a Netflix movie - Piano Love, and I also did Isiphetho. Had a character there.' His last musical release was titled Imali. He has been in the industry for more than 25 years and managed to sustain his life. "The music business has been amazing and done a lot for me and an independent artist.'
LOOKING BACK
Raised in Clermont, Durban in an informal settlement called Skomplaz in 1995, Vukani met up with Sazi Hlongwane who suggested they form a dance group called Durban Mix, due to their love for music and dance. They worked together until 1997. In 1993 before the group formed, he was a freelance dancer for local shows, and in 1994 formed a Pantsula Dance Group called Dollars. In the same year, he met Zolani Smadzadza at a Miss Valentine Show and they formed a group called Superstars and late 1994 the group went to perform at a venue called Subzero where they met the talented Msawawa and recruited him to join the group. He has danced and choreographed for the like of Tokollo 'Magesh' Tshabalala, Mzambiya, Thembi Seete, Mshoza, the late Lebo Mathosa and Purity, Mzambiya, Msawawa, Chris Fly, Dan Lufani and many more.
