uMkhonto weSizwe Party axe their KZN premier candidate

Nhlanhla Ngidi has been axed on his position

uMkhonto weSizwe Party has axed Nhlanhla Ngidi as its KwaZulu Natal premier candidate. Ngidi, who is the former director-general of KZN provincial government, is currently number one on the party's provincial candidate list. His removal was communicated to him in a letter on Monday. This comes only a week after the party's Youth League leader, Bonginkosi Khanyile, was also removed from his position.

NORMAL PARTY MEMBER

In the letter, MK's secretary-general, Sihle Ngubane, said Ngidi's role going forward will be a normal member of the party in the province and just like Khanyile, he will be notified of redeployment later. "You are hereby removed from a position of provincial coordinator in KwaZulu-Natal of uMkhonto weSizwe Party and this removal is effective from today. Your role going forward will be notified of your redeployment in due cause. MK Party appreciates your role played this far," the letter read. The party which is not even a year old is led by former president Jacob Zuma, who is famously known for his hiring and firing of his cabinet at night during his time as the president of the country.

NO DIFFERENCE

There was not much difference from the letter that removed Khanyile compared to the one sent to Ngidi. Khanyile's dismissal was announced in a letter on 9 April 2024, but no explanation was provided. The controversial Khanyile, who also threatened unrest if Zuma was not on the ballot paper has not said anything after he was fired from his position. Meanwhile, former Ukhozi FM song of the year winner Dj Hlo, is the latest celebrity to join the party after actor Ernest Msibi, award winning rapper Zuluboy and Gagasi FM radio presenter Felix Hlophe joined the party.
