Two young boys, aged 5 and 6 who went missing yesterday in White City, Soweto were found brutally murdered this morning. The boys' bodies were also found with missing body parts. ?
SEARCHING FOR THE MISSING BOYS
A member of the Community Policing Forum (CPF), who wished not to be named, told ZiMoja that they started searching for the boys last night after they failed to arrive home from school. "We were informed through a WhatsApp group that there were two boys who went to school but never returned home. We began by asking the kids that go to school with them and they confirmed that they were at school and that they had left school when it was time for all children to go home," the CPF member said. He added that they searched all the local streets and nearby bushes, but the community did not find them until the early hours of the morning
GRUESOME DISCOVERY
The bodies were discovered in an open field next to a church when some of the CPF members were going home in the morning. The CPF member told ZiMoja that the scene was horrific. "We never thought that something like this would happen in our area as we try to keep our kasi safe. That is why we formed the CPF to patrol in this area, to curb crime," he said. The CPF member said that they learnt that the kids were called by someone who was in a white car and that was the last time the boys were seen alive. "Their throats were slit, mouth, nose, and the foreskins were cut off, we suspect this could be linked to a ritual practice," he added. The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela condemned the murders. "Lifeless bodies of the kids were found mutilated. It is so disheartening and disgraceful to see such little innocent lives being lost in this hideous manner. It cannot be that no one saw or heard anything. "We are appealing to anyone who may have information about this incident to please report it to the police," said Mawela.
