A Grade 2 learner is making waves with his deejaying skills. Real name Tumelo Merementsi, also known as TJ, hails from Kuruman in the Northern Cape and has been deejaying for three years now. He fell in love deejaying two years ago at Bikers Joint, where he grabbed attention of the patrons at the venue.
Speaking to Zimoja the 8-year old said: "I used to go to Biker's Joint and would only spend my time with the DJs, and I'd be intrigued by the decks and music, until one of the DJs put me on the decks".
"I was doing what I was instructed very well, that's when my mother noticed that I like this", he added.
ASPIRATIONS OF BECOMING A PILOT
TJ wants to be a pilot and a DJ and when asked does he get to socialise with his own friends, he said, "I'm a socialite amongst my friends both at school and outside of school, I love playing with my friends- I'm a typical boy who is always with friends".
TJ is inspired by Miggs Foreal, Black Coffee, and Zakes Bantwini.
"My wish is play in big international venues and also share a stage with artists such as Black Coffee, Rocco and Osunlade, but locally I want to play in places like Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town", said DJ TJ.
Zimoja has learnt that last weekend DJ TJ showcased at the Kuruman Montessori's Shine Show at Thabo Moorosi Community Hall in Kuruman in Northern Cape.
