Singer and producer Mr Brown accused Open Mic of exploitation on social media

Mr Brown accused Open Mic of exploitations

Producer and singer Mr Brown and Open Mic have smoked a peace pipe after a misunderstanding that saw the Zimbabwean born artist taking to social media to vent about not being appreciated for his work.

UNGRATEFUL

The Tsoko Tsoko and Uthando Uzongibulala hitmaker went on his social media accounts and accused the company of being ungrateful for all the hits he has made for one of their award winning singers Makhadzi. Brown whose real name is Lynol Siwela (31) from Gweru village in Zimbabwe went on venting spree on Tuesday when he posted a couple of Facebook posts about Open Mic exploiting him. "I am sick and tired of being a slave for people and at the end of the day end up being paid peanuts." In another post he said: "The reason you are not well paid is because they wanna control you so that you will depend on them. Learn to be your own boss." The post were later deleted the following day.

Brown confirmed the allegations to ZiMoja. He said he did have a fallout with Open Mic on Tuesday but declined to go into details on what led to it. "I can confirm that there was a misunderstanding between me and Open Mic due to some other issues which we have managed to sort them out. It wasn't something big, it was a misunderstanding between an employer and employee," he said.

MISUNDERSTANDING

A reliable source that is very close to the situation told ZiMoja that Mr Brown was very angry on Tuesday and he was prepared to walk away from everything and start his own company. "There was a misunderstanding between Mr Brown and the company. He was angry at them for not taking his job very seriously as he has produced three albums for award winning artist Makhadzi. Makhadzi is also the best selling and the most booked artist at Open Mic. It's all because of Mr Brown who managed to save Makhadzi's career when they had a fallout with Master KG and Prince Benza.

A GOOD COMBINATION

"For the past three years Mr Brown has been making hits for her and when a producer feels taken lightly, the artist will suffer. The company realised their mistake and ironed things out with him. That is why he quickly deleted all the negative things he had posted. He was venting and angry at the same time. It was going to be bad because Mr Brown is currently the only person who understands Makhadzi's style of music and what is needed to accommodate her genre. She also prefers working with Mr Brown and yes their combination is very dangerous as they have been dropping hits after hits," the source said.

OPEN MIC BOSS RESPOND

When called for a comment, Open Mic boss Lionel Jamela said: "I dont know what you are talking about my brother. I was with him this morning and there was no mention of anything about being unhappy or any misunderstanding. It is news to me. I am not aware of such,"he said.
