Prince Kaybee's long walk to freedom

Prince Kaybee is now free to release his music with a recording company of his choice

Universal Music have parted ways with award winning Dj Prince Kaybee. Real name Kabelo Motsamai, The Club Controller hitmaker is now free to release music under any record label of his choice. 

 

TERMINATION OF CONTRACT 

A letter titled: "Termination of joint venture agreement between Kabelo Motsamai and Universal Music dated 3 April 20232, it states . "We refer to the joint venture agreement concluded between Kabelo Motsamai and UM on 3 February 2022. The parties have agreed to mutually terminate the agreement with effect from 3 April 2023 and UM released you from the delivery of any further recordings in terms of the agreement. UM shall continue it commercially exploit the recordings account and make payment if due to you in terms of the agreement. We thank you for the opportunity of working with us and wish you every success in the future," the letter reads. 

 

COULDN'T WAIT TO LEAVE THE STABLE 

 In the last few years, Prince Kaybee has made it known that he was not happy at the recording label and wanted out of the contract. In a tweet in October 2021, Prince Kaybee revealed that he couldn't wait to leave the recording label. He wrote, "I don't wanna lie, my songs do the work, I can't wait to leave Universal," The award-winning DJ also suggested in one of his tweets that the company was sabotaging his music. Sharing the letter on Monday, Prince Kaybee wrote "Free, after 8 years. Now I have all this power I'm not used to, I can do whatever I want but its so foreign to me I'm even panicking."

 

VENTURING INTO BUSINESS 

Prince Kaybee has joined a list of celebrities involved in the wine-making industry, such as actor Thapelo Mokoena. He recently bought a stake in Tulbagh in the Western Cape at the Blue Crane Vineyards and will soon be creating a lasting legacy by releasing his wine named after his son, Milani. The Fetch Your Life hitmaker also owns shares in an insurance company that exists in three African countries. He also owns a trucking company with a fleet of 15 horses and trailer truck and eight side tippers. He is also a landlord in Bloemfo?tein where he owns a block of flats.
