What happens in the minds of rapists and murderers when their victims beg for mercy? The resistance, screams and tears falling down their victim's faces. The look on their faces when they take their last breath. South Africa is faced with a daily struggle of rape, missing children and murders.Who falls victim to all this brutality? Women and children fall prey to merciless predators who later blame mental illnesses for their evil deeds.
THE RIGHT STATE OF MIND
In a lot of cases that have been covered,the suspects have a history and pending cases of a similar nature.Some of them claim to have not been in their right state of mind when committing the crime, supposedly with the hope of getting away with it. My observation is that the suspects rape a woman or child, cry mental illness, get bail and then go back to commit a worse offence.
HEARTLESS
Two examples are the recent cases of mutilated 4year old Bogabo Poo and the six decomposed bodies of alleged sex workers who were found at a makeshift workshop near Faraday Taxi Rank in Johannesburg. 28 year old Ntokozo Zikhali who abducted, killed and mutilated Bogabo has a previous case of rape.It is alleged that he raped a nine-year old in April and has a pending case that he was attending at the Oberholzer Magistrate Court in Carltonville. He is currently facing charges of kidnapping, rape, murder, defeating the ends of justice and violation of a corpse. Bogabo's funeral has been put on hold because there are some parts of her body missing.This is an indication that when somebody commits a crime their offence should be taken seriously the first time around ,because what comes after that is monstrous.
NO BAIL
The matter against the 21-year-old man linked to the death of a sex worker and is yet to be determine if he is responsible for the other multiple bodies of sex workers has committed a similar crime to that of Zikhali. The NPA has prohibited the media from identifying the accused because an identity parade has not been conducted.
The NPA,s Phindi Mjonondwane said so far the accused could only be linked to one of the deceased, which is the last victim he was spotted with.The rest of the bodies are due for DNA testing in order to determine if he is linked to their death.However, this just goes to show that rape crimes should be taken seriously and the perpetrators should not be given bail.Simply because they come back to commit worse crimes and prey on more innocent souls.
