Ehostela actor and maskandi singer Quality Biyela survived a hail of bullet on Wednesday when unknown person tried to kill him at KwaMashu Hostel in Durban, KwaZulu Natal. Biyela who hails from Mahlabathini in KZN but now based in Dobsonville in Soweto in Johannesburg says that he is clueless why people want him dead. "I was in KwaMashu hostel visiting my brothers who stay there as I was also a resident of the same hostel before I moved to Johannesburg. As exiting the hostel, two cars followed me and I didn't think that they were coming after me. When I reached the robot, man got out of a car, greeted me by my name. I thought it was one of those people who are my followers but when they were closer to the car they began shooting directly towards me," he says clearly shaken.
SURVIVING NINE BULLETS
Biyela said that nine bullets were shot directed to him. "I don't know how those people missed me because they were shooting at me at close range. I think they are amateurs and also it is God's grace that I survived that shooting. One of the shooters missed me two times at close range before I decided to drive my car forward. I don't have enemies and I cannot say who may be behind this because I really don't know why I was shot. I can conclude that it may be jealous, some people don't like the fact that I have just released a maskandi EP," said Biyela who has a large number of followers on Tik Tok and Instagram.
A MASKANDI WAR BREWING
He further says that no case has been open as he doesn't know who was shooting at him. Biyela says that he doesn't rule out the ongoing rivalry within maskandi music as there are people and fans who.feel that they are threats to their favourite musicians. Biyela played the role of Phelelani on Ehostela season 2, he is also brand ambassador for different clothing range.
