Patriotic Alliance (PA) will vote in favour of ActionSA's motion of no-confidence against embattled City of Johannesburg mayor Thapelo Amad. ActionSA filed a motion of no-confidence against Al Jama-ah's Amad on Tuesday as they said he lacks leadership qualities.  

READY TO BE JOBURG MAYOR 

PA leader Gayton McKenzie has put his hand up for nomination for the city of gold's mayoral position. McKenzie is currently a mayor at the Central Karoo District in the Northern Cape where he pledged his salary to be directed to the needy in the area. "We voted for this Thapelo, which may be forgivable. To not remove him now would be unforgivable," he said. McKenzie said that the DA, Freedom Front +, IFP, ACDP, UIM and ActionSA support the motion to remove Amad from office and elect a new mayor. "I will put my name in the hat for the job. I don't have to be the mayor at all costs, but Joburg has been falling apart and someone needs to step up. It is obvious that the city is being run by criminals,' McKenzie said. He added that whoever becomes the mayor must have no fear of breaking up the criminal cartels and restore the shine of the city of gold.  

RESTORING LAW AND ORDER 

McKenzie said the city needs a mayor who will restore law and order to the city of gold streets. "I will again not take my salary but donate it to charity. I will not use the municipal vehicles or bodyguards. This is not about what I will be able to take but what I am willing to give. It is about service and country duty. I will work as the Joburg mayor for no more than one year,' he said. He added that he needs a year to remodel the city.
