The 55th ANC Elective conference ended yesterday and outgoing African National Congress spokesman Pule Mabe says he's ready to hit the streets of South Africa or join the corporate world after his loss at the ANC 55 Elective Conference in Nasrec. He was up against Gwen Ramokgopa for the position of treasurer-general which he lost. He addressed the media in Nasrec and explained that he did not take the elections personally after the party's top 7 was announced.

NOT GOING TO BEHAVE LIKE ANGRY GIRLFRIEND

He said he avoided engaging emotionally into political campaigns. "I don't want to stand here and start behaving like an angry girlfriend. It doesn't work like that, I don't invest my emotions into political campaigns. However, should the party deploy me to the national executive committee (NEC), I will willingly serve the liberation. He said the leadership of the ANC will come and go but the ANC will remain.

A NUMBER'S GAME

Meanwhile the ANC's Mzwandile Masina who is the Ekurhuleni regional chairperson withdrew from contesting the treasurer-general post with Mabe and Ramokgopa. In a turn of events he rallied  his support behind Mabe. "Politics is about numbers, there's no names of people who voted for us. Therefore we cannot guarantee that Masina's supporters voted for me,"said Mabe. ?Doing a postmortem on the conference, Mabe acknowledged that the conference started off on a Rocky slate with delegates behaving in an uruly manner but in the end the was progress and the programme continued.
