Uncovering corruption and maladministration at the Sekhukhune District Municipality in Limpopo has put the life of opposition party leader Seun Mogotsi in danger.

The Bolsheviks Party leader survived an attempted assassination on Monday night when hitmen shot four times through his bedroom window. However, Mogotsi was not in his bedroom when the shooting took place.?

THE SHOOTING ?

Mogotsi told ZiMoja that the shooting incident happened around 8 pm during loadshedding. He said he had just gotten home and parked his car in the garage before going to see a neighbour." Before going to my neighbour's house I greeted my mother first. Shortly after that I heard gunshots at close range and wondered what was going on," he adds. He said he left his neighbour's house to go check up on his mother after the gunshots stopped. "I knocked on my mother's window and she told me that they were shooting at my bedroom. When I checked there were four holes directed to my bed. They clearly wanted me dead." He adds.

NOT FIRST ATTEMPT ON HIS LIFE?

This was not the first attempt on Mokgotsi's life but added that he had no intention of stopping to expose corruption. In 2016 he was shot multiple times but only one bullet hit him.  In October 2021 before the local government elections, Mogotsi was changing a flat tyre on the Moloto Road when two armed men pounced on him. He told ZiMoja that one of the men fired a shot trying to scare him and forced him into their car. "When I got a chance to escape, I grabbed the hand of the attacker who was holding a gun and hit his hand and escaped to the nearby village," he said. Mogotsi was rescued by the villages who called the police when they saw him running and screaming. 

RULING PARTY BLAMED?

"Sekhukhune is the most corrupt municipality and I'm an enemy to the ruling party's evil deeds. I'm being hunted because I'm a whistle-blower in the municipality and opened several cases with the Hawks."  wants services to be delivered to the people. He added that misuse of public funds will not happen on his watch. I'm supposed to be having VIP protection, but the ANC won't provide it because I'm not their member and I'm exposing their dirt. I will just prays that God keeps me safe and alive." He added that it was greed and corruption that's putting his life on the line. " They don't want to be exposed for their corruption, that's why they want me dead, but God will keep me safe because I will root out one rotten potato after another."
