The sister of the woman who was killed, allegedly by her husband who is an ANC Member of Parliament likened the politician to the 'killer Pitbulls' that have been mauling people in the past few months. Jennifer Mohlomi (31) was stabbed and killed, allegedly by her husband Sibusiso Kula in November 2022 at their house in Kanana, North West.?
ABUSED FOR YEARS ?
Jennifer's sister tells ZiMoja that she was not shocked when she received a call about Jennifer's murder as the abuse has been ongoing for over a decade and there was nothing they could do about it. "We all knew that eventually, he was going to kill her. My sister knew that as well. Sibusiso is very arrogant, and he was a beast to his wife and kids. He used to beat her until she bled in front of their young children," Mohlomi says. On social media, Jennifer posted about the abuse countless times. In one of her last posts, she wrote that if she is killed, the suspect will be someone close. Mohlomi says, she was referring to her husband.
?A TOXIC MARRIAGE?
Mohlomi says her sister and the politician's marriage was toxic from the beginning. "There was never a time when Jennifer was at peace in her marriage." She adds that Jennifer feared her husband. "In the 12 years of her marriage, she has had to file for protection orders every six months. Sibusiso was never arrested, and the protection orders have since disappeared from the face of the earth. They are not there on the court records," she adds. "He has money, so he cleared them all. His above the law." Mohlomi says Jennifer's kids had gotten accustomed to their parents fighting to a point where they intervened to try and stop them, but the accused would also beat them up. "It was so bad that we often asked Jennifer to give us the kids because it was not healthy for them to grow up in that environment. But she would only come home for a short while and then Sibusiso would buy her gifts, apologise and she would go back to him. Her body was full of scars and bruises and as a family we knew that one day he would kill her but there was nothing we could do about it." Mohlomi adds.?
KIDS NOT TAKEN CARE OF ?
Mohlomi says the couple's kids have not gone to school since their mother's death. "Their father doesn't care about their well-being. He wants to change their school without good reason. He kept them in the care of his sisters whom the kids don't even like. The kids told me that their aunts harassed them and often left them with a neighbour. Sibusiso didn't even care about those kids' well-being being he was forever out drinking in December," she says. "At the beginning of the year, Sibusiso went to the kids' school to ask for transfers so they could change schools, but he wasn't granted because I am the one who registered with them at the school. He was asked to write an application and motivate why he wanted to remove the kids from the school but he never did that, up to this day my sister's children are not schooling."?
ANC WOMEN'S LEAGUE LASHED AT KULA?
Bitsa Lenkopane, a convener of the ANC women's league in the North West says they learned on Friday that the suspect was very close to the situation. "We always say that those who claim to love us are the ones killing us. I am glad the ANC does not want to be associated with those surrounded by scandals," Lenkopane says. "We cannot have a member of the National parliament who is accused of murder and we keep quiet. We need to be on the side of the masses. I am already worried because we met Jennifer's family and that family has not gotten the services that they deserve, not even a psycho-social team was deployed to that family." She goes on to say that she is happy that the state is taking the matter seriously because it is a schedule six offense and Kula will not be granted bail.

The matter will be back in court on Friday, 27 January 2023 where Kula will make his formal bail application.
