A man was electrocuted on Sunday when he was trying to steal cables.The unknown man was found hanging in an electric pole on Monday morning in KwaMakhutha township in the south of Durban in KwaZulu Natal (KZN).

Sibongile Mavundla who was the first to arrive on the scene said that they were shocked to see a man hanging in an electric pole. "We were all shocked to wake up to an unknown man hanging in an electric pole. We suspect that he was trying to seal cables because we were loadshed in the early hours of the morning. We suspect that when the electricity came back, it shocked and left him dead," said a neighbour. Mavundla said that the man was smelling like a "braaid meat". "The man was declared dead on the scene," said Mavundla who called the cops and eThekwini municipality.

Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala confirmed the incident. "KwaMakhutha police are investigating an inquest docket following an incident where an unknown man was allegedly electrocuted in the early hours of the morning along M37 by Woodhouse.
