She hosted this year's Metro FM Awards alongside Katlego Maboe at Mbombela Stadium. Dazzling on stage, Lerato Kganyabo was styled by celebrity stylist, and fashion designer Phupho Gumede. The award-winning designer tells ZiMoja that all six of Lerato's looks were customised for her by Gert Johan Coetzee. "Lerato has always had a beautiful and healthy relationship with Gert and seeing how he has evolved wither has been amazing,' Phupho says, "I as a stylist found working with Lerato easy and pleasant.'?

THE INSPIRATION

Phupho says that Lerato's jewelry was sourced from Jozeest and most pieces were custom-made under his creative direction. "We needed to customise some pieces to go with the outfits,' he says. "The mood board for all her looks was sequins, feathers, and blonde, which is a huge theme for rockstars. Lerato is in a rockstar.' For the Swati outfits, Phupho brought in designer Zuki. "We felt like it was important to recognise the Swati tribe in their city,' he says.

A FASHION ICON

Stylist and fashion designer Phupho Gumede K (24) is responsible for styling major Mzansi stars including his sister Ayanda Ncwane and creating fashion moments on television, on red carpets. Born and raised in Ndwedwe, Kwa Zulu-Natal, Phupho studied Biological Science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He launched his design career when he styled his sister Ayanda Ncwane for Real Housewives of Durban season one.
