The community of Mthwalume in the South of KwaZulu Natal (KZN) want the man who is accused of raping a 7-year old girl to rot in jail. Emihle Nyawose who was a grade 2 pupil at Sibanini Primary was allegedly raped and strangled to death on Sunday after a man who was hired to dig a pit toilet at her home allegedly followed her when her mother sent her to buy airtime at a local tuckshop.

 FOLLOWED TO THE SHOP

?According to the little girl's relative who was not authorised to speak to the media, Emihle was sent to buy airtime when the 27-year-old suspect asked her to buy him a cigarette."We were informed that the man decided to follow Emihle when she was going to the shops and pretended to be going somewhere. When the man came back my aunt asked him if he had seen Emihle but he denied seeing her or walking with her to the shops. That man followed Emihle , raped her and strangled her before throwing her body in a nearby bushes. He doesn't deserve to live amongst people since he is a monster. He came to our family and begged for a job to dig a hole for a toilet not knowing that he wanted to do a barbaric thing. We don't want to see him out. 

 HOSPITALILISED

"As I'm talking to you I am on my way to hospital to check on Emihle's mother as she had to be hospitalised and she was unable to speak. That man killed my cousin alive. He is a monster and deserves to rot in jail," said a cousin who said Emihle's mother was hospitalised as they had to use an injection to make sure she sleeps as she is said to have been crying hysterically the whole night," the relative said.

POLICE INVESTIGATION

KZN Spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the incident."Hibberdene police have arrested a 27-year-old suspect in connection the murder, kidnapping and rape of a 7-year-old girl. The little girl's lifeless body was found dumped in the bushes at Nomakhanzana area in Mthwalume with bruises on the neck on 12 February 2023. The suspect is expected to appear before the Umzumbe Magistrates Court soon.
