The African National Congress has been given the greenlight by Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality to host their January 8 Statement celebrations.The municipality made communication through the metro's acting city manager Tebogo Motlashuping. Motlashuping told the party in December that the Dr Rantlai Petrus Molemela stadium was dilapidated and needed to be refurbished in order for them to continue with their annual event.The ANC January 8 Statement celebrations will be held this Sunday in Mangaung, Free State, to mark its 111th anniversary since its formation in 1912.

ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said all matters that were previously flagged in relation to the stadium infrastructure have been cleared. "We got a certificate from the Mangaung Municipality that they have cleared all the issues and granted the ANC permission to use the stadium,' he said. Mbalula explained that the Imvelo Safari Lodge in Mangaung will be th emain national venue where members of the ANC's national executive committee(NEC) will be based ahead of Sunday's event. He said the stadium holds a capacity of 15000 and it is expected to be full. "On Saturday we will have a gold day and a gala dinner as a means to raise funds for the party. ," It's going to be a humdinger and a razzmatazz, it's a celebration but political content must remain. It must not move away from the political content.'
CONTINUING WITH 55th NATIONAL CONFERENCE
TODAY the ANC will resumed their 55th National Conference, which is hosted virtually.The ruling party failed to complete the conference in due time because of delays with the registration of more than 4000 delegates. Mbalula said there will be no discussions of the Phala Phala farm gate report during the two day virtual conference. "There will be no Phala Phala report at the conference. We are entertaining two issues at the conference to finalise the reports from the commissions and then the constitutional amendments. That will be the business of the second leg of this conference. The issue of the Phala Phala report was brought to the national executive committee. There are important milestones in relation to this matter,' he said. Mbalula said the hybrid conference will have its main hub in Bloemfontein and delegates from other provinces will join in virtually. "Each venue will be linked up to the national hub where the proceedings will be directed and the main agenda which the conference will conclude are the commission reports that include, among others, strategy and tactics, organisational renewal, finances and governance and transformation and conference resolutions,' said Mbalula.
