'I was not supposed to make it' -Yanga Sobetwa on living with depression and anxiety

Yanga has opened up about living with depression and anxiety

She has been open about her mental health since winning Idols SA season 14. Yanga Sobetwa recently celebrated her 22nd birthday and took a look back at how far she has come with her battle with depression and anxiety.?

OVERCOMING DEPRESSION?

The Scars singer looks back at living with anxiety and depression. "It's my 22nd birthday. It's my 'young adult era' sana. Man, looking where I came from, I was not supposed to make it,' she says. "The suicidal attempts, the severe depression, anxiety and the trauma. Truly it's only by God's grace shame.'? Yanga also has an upcoming show. "You all, know I have a recording on 1 July 2023 so, my wish is for yoall to buy your tickets and help me live my purpose,' she captioned her post.?

MAKING MUSIC?

Yanga won Idols SA at 17 years old when she entered the competition. She took a break from Grade 12 after winning the season as she was struggling to juggle work and school. "I don't regret taking a break from doing my matric. I tried doing matric full time but I missed a lot of classes because I was working on my album, It was a very difficult decision. For me, I felt like I failed whereas I did not."
