The couple accused of murdering two Soweto boys, Nqobizitha Zulu and Tshiamo Rabanye, appeared briefly at the Protea Magistrates Court on Friday. Nqobile Ndlovu (50) and her lover Mthunzi Zulu (39) are facing two counts of murder, kidnapping, perjury and defeating the ends of justice. The State said they have every reason to believe that the murders were premeditated. The two kids went missing last Wednesday night and were found dead the following day in White City and Rockville, 1,4 km apart.?
A LIAR AND PRETENTIOUS
Accused number one Ndlovu, is Nqobizitha's grandmother whose throat was slit and his body parts removed. Ndlovu's colleague told ZiMoja outside court that they were shocked to discover that it was one of their own who did this to their own grandchild. "We went to pay our respects on Tuesday and contributed money to assist with the burial. When we got to the house, she was not there and we were told that she had gone to church. Although that was surprising, we opted to wait for her until she returned," said the colleague, who did not want to be named. She added that Ndlovu eventually arrived and was happy to see her colleagues. "We were comforting her because this was not the first time her family was hit by such a tragedy. Her two children died in the same brutal manner. However, just before we left, we were surprised to see many police cars at Ndlovu's place. The police stormed into the house and asked us not to take any pictures or videos, little did we know that they were going to arrest our colleague, "she said. She pretended to be grieving and in shock while she knew she was behind the murder. She is a cruel woman and I wonder what she planned to do with those body parts," the colleague said.
BODY PARTS NOT FOR HEALING
The African Traditional Medicine (ATMP)'s secretary-general Dr. Oscar Esbie said no person with a calling uses human body parts to heal their patients. "As the sector, they have failed the community in terms of educating them to be able to differentiate between the people who are killers and healers," said Dr Esbie. There are people who understand these rituals and evil practices in terms of making money,, its most certainly not us, even if these perpetrators can be found, they're not and never will be part of us, they're just another sector of their own. Witchcraft is definitely part definitely not part of our craft," he added.
A SERIOUS MATTER
Initially. when Ndlovu and her co-accused were asked if they needed legal representation. They said they would represent themselves. However, after the Magistrate Tshepiso Maepa read their charges and explained the seriousness of the matter, they changed their minds. Ndlovu, a security guard said she will be using the services of her own lawyer and Zulu said he would apply for legal aid. The matter has been postponed to 5 May for formal bail application. The two boys were buried this morning at the Olifantsvlei
