On a daily basis he would drive around Faraday scouting for his next victim of "abacimbizi", a term sex worker prefer to be called by . But on a Sunday it was guaranteed that he would pay extra for services, drive away with the victim and later strangle them to their death. This is a suspect that was apprehended on Sunday after six decomposed bodies were discovered at a make shift workshop near Faraday Taxi Rank. A source told Zimoja One of the employees who came to wash his car on Sunday morning was alerted by a foul smell working and maggots crawling out.
HE TRIED TO ESCAPE
He then alerted the owner of the workshop and the police.They went to the suspects home in Fordsburg and found the father and one of his wives.
"The father called the suspect, who was in his bedroom, and told him they had to sort out something at the workshop. When the suspect went to the car and realised that the employee and police were there, he tried to escape but his father grabbed him."
SUSPECT IS A YOUNG HANDSOME MAN
The father drove to the police station and that's when his son was arrested. One of the abacimbizi who only wanted to be identified as "slender" described the 21 year old suspect as a handsome young man. She said the suspect was very polite and would often convince his clients to leave with him.
"I'm a very slick woman so I always refused when he asked to go with me. I just don't like getting into people's cars, we either service each other at a hotel or nothing."
Slender added that they noticed a pattern of women in their circle going missing.
"This boy was very persuasive if you charge R50 for short time, he will offer you R250 and that's how his victims fell into his trap. He would pay them upfront and tell them to leave their money and belongings with a friend, if they suspect he would mug them. The lucky ones managed to get away but the rest didn't make it make,"said Slender.
THE SAFETY OF ABACIMBIZI COMPROMISED
She said they still have some of the phones and belongings of the six women. Another woman said they only opened a missing case for the last victim. "The last victim was reported missing on the 2nd of October. Her family and boyfriend were worried that they couldn't reach her so they came to look for her and because they knew the nature of her job, they immediately got worried," she said. She said she wondered what the motive of the suspect was.
"Why would he kill us like this? It could have been any of us in that situation." It's unfortunate that she can't stop working because she has a child in varsity and others in primary school. "We don't know what to do anymore to make sure we are safe,"she said.
A FOUL SMELL
Police spokeswoman Brigadier Brenda Muridili said," The police were called to the building due to a foul smell coming out from one of the rooms. That is when a body of a woman was found. A preliminary investigation led the police to the suspect, believed to be the last person seen with the deceased woman. It is reported that on the 2nd of October 2022 at 20:00; the suspect was seen with the deceased woman. She was never seen again until her body was discovered on Sunday morning. The clothes she was wearing matches the description of one of the missing persons reported recently." The suspect will appear in court soon.
