The father of a two-year-old boy who was strangled to death by his own mother is battling to come to terms with his passing. Melusi Ntuli who is a Radiation Therapist in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal is finding it hard to believe that his only son is no more.

Ntuli took to his Facebook page and wrote on how the mother of his son brutally murdered the toddler. 

STRANGULATION

Ntuli said that his son was killed at his baby mama's home in Dobsonville Gardens in Soweto. "On Saturday night my one and only son was brutally murdered by his own mom, who carried him for nine months, strangled him to death inside her car in her yard while she was playing music out loud. She then left the child inside the car and went to the police station to turn herself in. My head is spinning, and I don't know what to do. I have so many questions in my mind that I don't have answers for. Imenzeni kangaka ingane (What has my child done to her)? What is more painful is that I acknowledged my child by paying damages as a family and went as far as cleansing her family home. I don't know, maybe she is punishing me that I was a present father from the beginning, taking responsibility for my actions as a man. Did I do the right thing? Maybe things could have turned out differently if I had abandoned my duties and chosen the route of being a deadbeat father. Maybe my child could still be alive today," he wrote. 

Attempts to get comment from Ntuli proved fruitless as those close to him said he was not in a good state for an interview.

SHUTTERED

The post further reads: "I'm shuttled beyond disbelief; my heart is sore. Please someone wake me up from this and tell me everything will be ok; it was just a dream. I have so many questions as to why my only child? What have I done wrong to go through this? Where is God? Does he even exist? How does one heal past this traumatic chapter of life and excruciating pain? How does one even become a normal human being ever again? Truth be told I don't see myself recovering from all this traumatic experience ever again.

HANDING HERSELF TO THE POLICE

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the incident. He said a 30-year-old woman handed herself over to the police in Doornkop after she allegedly killed her two-year-old child on Saturday 4February 2023. "The suspect appeared at Roodepoort Magistrate Court on Tuesday,07 February 2023, facing a charge of murder. The motive for the killing cannot be confirmed at this stage." Masondo said.
