Nigerian mega star, Davido and his partner, Chioma Rowland have lost their three-year-old son, Ifeanyi to a drowning in his home country. The incident happened a few days after Ifeanyi had celebrated his third birthday in a lavish party in October. The couple's son drowned in a swimming pool at Davido's residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State. Their son was confirmed dead on arrival in hospital on October 31, exactly 11 days after turning three-years-old. Davido and Chioma had travelled for a family gathering to Ibadan on Monday and had left Ifeanyi with his minders who can't explain how he entered the pool without being noticed and drowned.

DEATH OF A CHILD IS TRAGIC

A distraught and inconsolable Davido was removed from Evercare Hospital and taken to his father's house, after he received the bad news of this son's passing. Hours after the news broke of Ifeanyi's passing, Iyabo Ojo, Ay Comedian, William Uchemba, Paul Okoye and several other celebrities all shared condolences on their social media pages. Comedian Ayo Makun posted early hours of Tuesday on Instagram that the death of a child is "unnatural, unfair and tragic. This hits me so bad."

PLANNING HIS WEDDING

The news of Davido and Chioma losing their son, happen at a time when the couple was planning their wedding. According to the singer, in a video on social media, the wedding will be held in 2023. Davido, and Chioma were estranged in 2021, but media reports in Nigeria say they continued to celebrate each other's birthdays. The lovebirds were captured together at Dubai Expo 2022. Davido has a hectic schedule where he performs in the United States and Canada. Just in June, he had performed in Brooklyn, Toronto, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles.
