They were driving back home from a social gathering when they saw something they couldn't ignore. The two cousins from Dukuduku area in Mtubatuba , north of KwaZulu Natal, were driving in two cars following each other when they saw a young woman being dragged into the bushes by two men.  

ATTEMPTED RAPE 

Fearing the worst would happen the woman, they both stopped their car and tried to help the woman. But their decision would end their lives in the most horrific manner. It's alleged that the cousins ,whose mothers are siblings, were driving in two cars following each other when they stopped to rescue the woman from being raped. Soon after exiting their car, the cousins were attacked by the would-be-rapists, who allegedly stabbed them to death in front of the woman. A community member who didn't want to be named said the woman was attending a party in the area when she asked one guy she knew to accompany her home as it was dark. "The guy asked his friend to go with them. Soon after that the two teamed up and demanded sex from the woman. They started dragging her into the bushes when the two cars approached," the source said.  

?ATTACKED, STABBED AND BURNT 

According to another community member, when the cousins tried to reason with the two men, they were attacked and stabbed multiple times. Their bodies were then stashed inside their cars before they were set on fire with the bodies inside, a few kilometres apart. "The lady ran for her life when she saw that the men who attacked her meant business,". The woman went to the police to report what she had witnessed. 

 
MURDER CONFIRMED 

Local councillor Mkhawuleni Zulu confirmed the incident. "We are shocked that something like this can happen in our area. We normally see such things on TV. We are visiting the family today with the local induna. The family is traumatised, and they are not coping at all," said Zulu, who refused to share more information on the matter because he fears for his life. KZN SAPS spokesperson Robert Netshiunda confirmed the incident. "Police were called to a scene of crime on R618 near KwaNyongo in Dukuduku. Upon arrival police found a burnt vehicle with the body of a 34-year-old man on a passenger seat. He was also burnt. Another vehicle was also found burnt at Emashobeni plantation along the same road. The body of another 34-year-old was found inside a boot. Police are investigating two counts of murder and another for malicious damage to property," he said.
