Bitter war between Amazulu former marketing manager and the club gets ugly

Sandile Zungu has called his club's former marketing manager delusional
Facebook

The legal battle between former AmaZulu Football Club former marketing manager, Phumlani Dube and the Durban-based team is far from over. This after Dube was served with court papers on Tuesday after claiming in the media that some players at the club went to training drunk. The claims come soon after Dube had taken the team owned by businessman, Sandile Zungu, to the CCMA for unfair dismissal.

ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING A FEMALE EMPLOYEE

Dube was fired from AmaZulu in November last year, after he allegedly assaulted a female employee in Johannesburg during a match that featured Usuthu in the Carling Black Label Cup. On his Facebook page, Dube wrote: "I have received a letter of demand from attorneys acting on behalf of AmaZulu FC formally demanding that I publicly retract the remarks I made about the club during my press briefing, as well as on the Marawa Sports Worldwide radio show, last week. "I have also been instructed to offer a written apology to AmaZulu on or before Wednesday 3 May 2023 or face High Court action. I have handed the said letter over to my attorneys to look into it." Dube seems not to be fazed by the letter of demand he received from AmaZulu's attorneys. "I wish to state that I welcome the decision taken by AmaZulu FC as these matters will now be ventilated in an open court of law and evidence given; and the public will see and evaluate the evidence that will be presented in an open court. An appropriate response will be given soon. Otherwise, I will not retract my comments and I will not apologise for anything as there is nothing to apologise for. Speaking the truth is not a crime. That's all I can say for now."

ANGRY AND BITTER

Zungu told ZiMoja that Dube is delusional, and that he does not want to face consequences for his actions. Zungu says what Dube said about his players  is defamatory, unless he can prove that beyond reasonable doubt. "Phumlani needs help. He is angry and bitter after we released him from the team for being involved in a gender-based violence case," says Zungu. Meanwhile, after Sekhukhune United lost 2-0 to AmaZulu on Saturday evening in Durban, Sekhukhune coach Brandon Truter was asked if some players from AmaZulu went to training drunk. Truter, who coached AmaZulu for seven months before joining Sekhukhune reportedly said: "Yes, it's true. I am not going to lie to anybody, players came to training drunk and I had to deal with it at one stage, so whoever said it [Dube] is right," said the coach as he lifted the lid on the scandal.
