There has been tension between her and her mother-in-law for years. Ever since Mandla 'Mampintsha' Maphumulo and Bongekile 'Babes Wodumo' Simelane's relationship started, the tension has become worse. If it was not a fight about money, it was about respect. ?
THE TENSION?
Babes Wodumo has never been one to shy away from speaking her mind. Last year, she made headlines for swearing at her mother-in-law Zama Mnguni on social media and ranted about Zama demanding R1,500. "We gave it to her. We gave her, what the sh**! That b***h is drunk," Babes said while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. She goes on to say that her mother-in-law must not "f**k" with her and accused her of having a drinking problem. She later threatened to beat her and the son, Mampintsha when he asked her to apologise. "I will beat you up and if that fails, I will send my brothers to do it! He comes here and makes excuses for his mother, but I don't care. Why must I apologise when she's the one who must apologise to me," she added.
TRYING TO MAKE PEACE?
Season two of their reality show Uthando Nodumo was all about fixing all the wrongs they had made in the past. They wanted to fix their finances and mend broken relationships and bad communication. Babes and Mapintsha's mom made peace by offering each other live animals as a sign of a truce between families.
MORE FIGHTS BEFORE THE FUNERAL?
But since Mampintsha's death, chaos and fights abrupted once began. The Maphumuloand Simelane family were at loggerheads over the body of the Ngeke singer and who had permission to bury him. On the day of Mmapintsha's memorial service, his mother Zama arrived late with family members to attend her son's service. The state and Simelane family since managed all funeral proceedings.?
EXTENDING AN OLIVE BRANCH
Speaking at Mampintsha's funeral, Babes Wodumo extended an olive branch to her mother-in-law and asked her for forgiveness while also forgiving her. The two hugged and kissed after the service to acknowledge starting on a clean slate. "Today, I want to open up to MaGumede. I wish to forgive you for all your sins. I am a born-again Christian, raised by a pastor. I forgive you and I ask that whatever was causing tension between the two of us, end today and we start afresh." Babes also thanked Mmapintsha's father for raising him well. She spoke briefly about Mampintsha's last day. "In his last days, he told me that he loved me, which is why I am probably this strong. But he left me without giving me the pin of his phone," she joked while saying that "all men cheat and Mampintsha was no different."
