A love triangle between Senzo Meyiwa and the Khumalo sisters could have led to his death. According to the defence of four of the accused Advocate Tshepo Thobane, Kelly Khumalo trusted her sister enough to let her stay in her house and look after her boyfriend but her sister took her for a fool. He said a witness will testify to this and reveal how Meyiwa complained about how Kelly did things and wanted him watched.
During Thobane's cross examination to the third witness, Tumelo Madlala, he told the court that Kelly asked her sister Zandi to move in so she could look after Meyiwa while she focused on her music career. It is said that Zandi was a bodyguard of some sort tasked to make sure that Meyiwa didn't entertain other women. However, Kelly discovered that her sister and her boyfriend were entertaining each other sexually while she entertained her fans.
SENZO LOVED WOMEN
Madlala told the court that he had no knowledge of Zandi and Meyiwa's affair but all he knew was that Senzo loved women. Thobane asked Madlala if he knew about Senzo's life policies. Madlala said it had nothing to do with him. Thobane said a witness will confirm that Senzo and Kelly took out life cover and Kelly was the beneficiary. "Let the witness come," responded Madlala. Thobane suggested that Chicco Twala's son, Longwe Twala, found out that his girlfriend, Zandi was having an affair and was not happy with that. He said Longwe came to Vosloorus upset and was not alone in his car. "There was an argument between Kelly, Zandi, Longwe and Senzo, that is when the gunshot went off." Madlala maintained that this was a lie.
Thobane asked Madlala why he said Senzo had been shot by mistake to his brother and never mentioned intruders or a robbery. "I put it to you that it was Kelly who accidentally shot her boyfriend after the gun was taken from an angry Longwe," said Thobane.
TEFFO'S SURPRISE APPEARANCE
Earlier in before the court proceedings Advocate Malesela Teffo budged into the court demanding to speak to Judge Maumela.
Teffo had been representing the five accused before "withdrawing in the matter following threats on his life."
He was escorted out by police and security personnel who were brought in by the judge.
State prosecutor advocate Baloyi said Teffo claimed he wanted to deal with the case of the second docket.
Before Advocate concluded his questioning with Madlala he asked him to point out the man responsible for Meyiwa's death in the gallery. Madlala identified accused number two Bongani Ntanzi as the man behind Meyiwa's murder. Court resumes on tomorrow morning.
