Zanele Mbokazi to be buried this weekend

Zanele Mbokazi to be buried this week

Ukhozi FM broadcaster and businesswoman, Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, will be buried this Saturday, 17 August. Her funeral service will be held at the ICC in Durban from 9am and she will be laid at her final resting place at Marianhill in Pinetown.

SAME VENUE SHE HOSTED AWARDS

Her memorial service, which is expected to be attended by industry colleagues, politicians, the business sector and her fans alike, will be held tomorrow at the GNF, near the Durban Station. The service will start at 12 in the afternoon.

MaZet, as she was popularily known in the media industry, died of lung cancer this week. Ironically, her funeral service will be held at the ICC, the same venue she had crammed thousands of gospel artists, musicians and sponsors for the inaugural SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards in August 2008.

Zanele joined Ukhozi FM in 1995, as one of the young presenters who were recruited and groomed by the late station manager, Welcome "Bhodloza" Nzimande. She presented a gospel show before leaving to venture into business.

The beauty with brains, who had an Honours Degree in Media and Communications from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), rejoined Ukhozi FM in April last year and worked as an on-air presenter until her passing on Monday.

Ukhozi FM Business Manager, Sbongi Ngcobo said, "Throughout her tenure, Zanele was an integral part of the Ukhozi FM family, spreading love, hope, and inspiration to countless listeners through her uplifting gospel show. Her passion for sharing the message of faith and her infectious enthusiasm touched hearts and transformed lives."

SABC's Acting Group Executive: Video Entertainment, Ms Lala Tuku, added in a statement: "The SABC will always cherish its partnership with Ms Mbokazi-Nkambule for the Crown Gospel Music Awards, as they shone a light on a much-loved music genre in the country. Her passion for the development of the music industry commendable."

LEAVING BEHIND A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY

Zanele leaves behind her Bishop Nkambule whom she married in 2011. The couple met at a church service administered by the Bishop from eSwatini.

She is survived by two daughters: actress Yolanda Myeza and film editor Mawande Myeza.
